I graduated from the Seattle University School of Law in 1999. I have been a member of the Washington State Bar Association since 2000. I have been licensed to practice in Illinois since 2018. I am also a member of the Federal Bar Association. I was born in Seattle and grew up in Kirkland.
I graduated from O'Dea High School. Afterwards, I graduated from Seattle University with a B.A. Degree. Thereafter, I graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a Master of Business Administration Degree.
My philosophy for success is hard work and self-confidence. Underlying this philosophy is the belief that this can be done ethically, honestly, and fairly. Hard work means being diligent in pursuing a matter in a timely manner and being ready to achieve goals and take on the opposition. Self-confidence means knowing that I am right, can advocate my position without question or doubt, and can convince a fact-finder of my position.
Rather than having gone straight to law school right after undergraduate school, I worked in different fields: title insurance, procurement, and even book-binding. These experiences allowed me to see much of the real world and become familiar with situations about which potential clients now come to see me. I saw co-workers injured on-the-job who were restricted in what they could after they returned to work. I knew people who were never able to work again after their injuries. I know that this background has given me great empathy for people who come to see me about their problems.
In my practice, I have taken on different kinds of cases and situations. Many of them have been in personal injuries actions, many in Worker's Compensation claims, and others in which I have written Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Health Care Directives (Living Wills). I have probated quite a few Wills too. A contracts case involved hundreds of thousands of dollars. I feel that I am a better attorney because I have this broad base of experience.
I have found that although types of cases, actions, and claims may vary, one thing does not: it is always true that someone believes that he or she has been wronged and justice is required. It is my job as an attorney to evaluate that person's situation and tell that him or her my view of it. Sometimes that person has a good case that should be pursued; other times he or she does not. In either situation, I always give my honest opinion about it. Such an opinion can help determine for the person whether the time and expense of pursuing a case is worth it or not. I believe that with my experience level I can be helpful in this way.
