Legal Information

Where I Litigate. I litigate mostly in the King County Superior Court, both in downtown Seattle and Kent.  I accept actions in other Courts and counties too.  When necessary, I litigate before the Court of Appeals and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

My Role in the Legal Action. In the typical legal action, I deal with the opposing party and witnesses; manage the discovery process; communicate with the doctors involved; go to Court, etc.

On Worker’s Compensation claims, I deal with the bureaucracy of the Department of Labor & Industries and litigate before the Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals.  I also deal with the employers, their representatives, their doctors, etc.

In Probate matters, I prepare Wills, POAs, and Health Care Directives (“Living Wills”).  I also handle Will contest litigation.

I also handle administrative hearings on unemployment compensation claims and driver’s license suspensions.

Initial Consultation. There is no charge of an initial consultation.  If you are in a hospital or otherwise unable to come to my office, then I will go to you.

Legal Fees and Costs. Depending on the type and expected outcome of a legal action, I work on either an hourly or a contingency basis.  In some actions, advanced fees and costs must be paid upfront by the client.  This will need to be refreshed before it is exhausted.

In all actions, the client is responsible for the costs and expenses that are incurred.  This is required by the Washington State Bar Association.  Typical costs and expenses include, but are not limited to, filing fees, postage, copies, service of process, deposition costs, expert witnesses, etc.

Additional Client Responsibilities. Finally, the client must realize that in a legal action, there is a partnership between the attorney and client.  This means that both must carry out their respective responsibilities.  It is important that the client realizes that his/her responsibilities are just as crucial as the attorney’s.
